"The Ray Chairs (two pieces) are composed by the cellular assemblage of ‘rays’ of foam. The soft rays assembled together create a comfortable seat in the variation of a chair and a small sofa. The top of the sitting area reminds us of a pixel composition, and the overall design of the ray is inspired by the baroque tradition of the sacred iconography of the spiritual light. The strong historical ephemeral iconography of the rays is contrasted by the soft and comfortable nature of the foam."
Antonio Pio Saracino's Ray Sofa has been acquired by the MUSEUM of ARTS and DESIGN, NYC, as part of their permanent collection.
